3M DP8005 Two-Part Acrylic-Based Structural Plastic Adhesive for Bonding Polyolefins Without Surface Pretreatment with Room Temperature Cure

3M DP8005 is a two-part acrylic-based structural adhesive with a 10:1 mixing ratio by volume. It cures at room temperature and is designed for bonding low-surface-energy plastics such as polypropylene and polyethylene without requiring primers or surface treatments. Available in translucent and black variants.

This adhesive replaces mechanical fasteners and welding in plastic assembly, offering excellent water, humidity, and chemical resistance. It forms structural bonds on challenging substrates like TPOs and HDPE, with a handling strength achieved in 2-3 hours and full cure in 8-24 hours at 23°C.​

3M DP8005 contains microspheres to maintain a consistent 0.005–0.008-inch bondline thickness. It withstands temperatures from -29°C to 82°C and demonstrates cohesive failure under stress, ensuring reliable performance in harsh environments.

Widely used in automotive interior trim, plastic furniture, storage containers, and industrial plastic assemblies. Suitable for bonding HDPE pipes, FRP panels, and metal-plastic hybrids.
