In the event of a power failure , the turnstile triggers fire mode , sounds an alarm , and automatically opens the gate . The passage remains open after power loss and closes automatically when power is restored . In addition , the system has an automatic reset function : if no passage occurs within the set time after the gate opens ( default 10 seconds ) , the current permission is automatically cancelled , preventing tailgating or misuse .
